We call fixed prostheses to the treatments carried out on worn, damaged or lost teeth to restore their function and aesthetics. They are treatments that require a previous preparation in the tooth, to later restore it in a fixed way.
When restoring worn, damaged or bad teeth, they will be placed on the same crowns (which are fully covered) or veneers (covering only the front part of the anterior teeth). Both the veneers and the crowns are made with ceramic materials, matching the properties and colors of the teeth to the maximum.
In the case of using a fixed prosthesis to replace a lost tooth, ceramic bridges will be made to replace the missing tooth or teeth, leaning on the adjacent teeth. Today this technique is being used in less and less cases, since the ideal is to replace lost teeth with implants, without the need to touch adjacent teeth.
