Oral implantology is the area of dentistry that is responsible for dental rehabilitation due to tooth loss, with the main objective of recovering the aesthetics and functionality of the oral cavity.
Dental implants are placed in bone tissue with the intention of replacing missing teeth. Most dental implants are made of titanium or zirconium, as they are biocompatible materials that bond physically and chemically to the bone during the osseointegration process, and are also strong and durable.
The process has two parts: The first stage is for inserting the implant into the patient and the second stage takes place after 4 to 6 months when the gum tissue has healed and the bone has regained its stability. This is the stage where the final crown is made and placed on top of the implant.
